Fall Tour Plans Are Underway

September 9th, 2009

The Friends of Red Mountain Park will be offering park tours on the third Sunday of every month this fall.  The tours will build upon previous routes and explore some new trails and historic structures.  We encourage everyone to join us for these free events.  The next tour is:

Sunday, March 21st at 2:00 p.m.

This season’s tour series will include two new trails that will allow visitors to see new parts of the property.  The tours will include helpful guides who will answer park questions and provide historic background information.  You will leave the park with an excitement and a new knowledge about Birmingham’s past.

Be sure to arrive 15 minutes early to each tour so that you may fill out a park waiver form and meet your tour guide.  The park tours allow for two different tour lengths.  One route is approximately 4 miles long, and the other route is approximately 1.5 miles long.  Wear comfortable shoes and clothing, along with plenty of water.  The full list of tour dates is as follows:

  1. Sunday, March 21 @ 2:00 p.m.
  2. Sunday, April 18@ 2:00 p.m.

The park tours begin at the cul-de-sac at the end of Frankfurt Drive.  Frankfurt Drive is the third right turn off of Lakeshore Parkway, 1.4 miles past its intersection with West Oxmoor Road.  We hope to see you there!
