JeffCo Commission Vote on Park Funding Imminent
First of all thanks to so many of you for your letters and emails to the County Commissioners demonstrating your support for RMP. Several of you have cc'd us on your emails and the volume has been fantastic. There have also been several letters printed in the Birmingham News as well as a supportive column by News Editor Tom Scarritt. We have heard from folks with courthouse connections that our efforts are having a great impact. One commissioner is collecting a file of letters to present at the vote to demonstrate constituent support. Our goal is to make that one fat folder.
The big question of course is when will the vote take place and unfortunately all we hear is "soon". I wish we knew more, but it does sound like something is going to happen within the next week.
If you have not found an opportunity to email or mail the Commission, we hope you can find time in the next few days prior to the vote. Repeat customers are certainly welcome too! Below you will find some repeated financial projections from ConsultEcon's Tom Martin given at the last public forum:
- RMP would bring approximately $29.4 million to the local economy annually
- RMP would generate $1 million in tax revenue for state, county and local entities annually
- RMP would create 452 jobs in the community, park itself and supporting industries
